My vision is to step up the quality of education for the talented students through Science and Mathematics Academy for Real Talents (SMART). Regular school syllabus though important and mandatory, will not be challenging for the talented since it is not primarily designed for them. More importantly, the method of testing in schools is not meant to be much towards the analytical side. Hence, many of them even waste lots of time not doing justice to their potential, though they have talent and interest in Maths and Science. Many are also not aware of proper methodologies available to nurture their talent. They can actually be guided towards a brighter future by equipping them with much better analytical skills and maturity in thinking.
The process should start from sixth standard and several courses are specially designed in accordance with the vision. Talented students who are sincere towards these courses will be very successful. They will experience a sea change in their conceptual clarity and problem solving skills, which will strengthen their originality and creativity in thinking. Their analytical prowess and logical acumen will blossom. They can distinguish themselves in competitive exams as well and make their parents and Chennai proud of their achievements. They will have the necessary fundamental knowledge and aptitude to perform well in any reputed University, wherein the real specialized education begins under the tutelage of professors with wealth of knowledge in various fields and their expert guidance in various areas of research.
Everyone knows that the IITs are the most reputed in India for Engineering studies. Unfortunately, the number of students entering the IITs from Chennai has been in a decline for some years. Many talented students from Chennai have ended up securing low ranks or didn't even a secure a rank, because of which they are not studying at IIT, while they certainly have the much needed potential. Also, many can actually be made to secure much better ranks than what they have obtained, which would have placed them in a better degree of their choice. Hence, a very specific objective of SMART will be to reverse the trend by high quality training and guidance, and fulfill the dreams of talented students across the city in clearing IIT-JEE with good enough ranks to get into IIT. Training and guidance for performing well in the prestigious Maths, Physics and Chemistry Olympiads wherein best of the students compete, will be another specific objective.
This shall remain as a humble contribution of SMART towards the educational growth of India, which as such is of paramount importance to the overall growth of the country.
